The fertile ground of European unity
Born in Lorraine and raised on the immediate borders of the Schengen area, my trajectory is rooted in the very heartland of European integration. This is the homeland of Robert Schuman—a tutelary figure whose existence was inherently cross-border.
Born in Luxembourg, raised in the nearby Saarland, practising law in Lorraine, and later serving as Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of France, Schuman was simultaneously Luxembourgeois, German, and French. Europe was consubstantial with his identity.
It was precisely within this border region—historically torn by conflict—that his vision of unity matured. He understood that progress does not come from dismantling identities or enforcing rigid supremacy, but from creating a shared space where former adversaries find collective purpose. What was once a land of friction became the birthplace of the European Union.

At the same time, we fully recognise the immense complexity, systemic weight, and historic responsibility carried by larger nations. Managing vast territories and deeply rooted institutions requires an entirely different scale of endurance and governance. Establishing the headquarters of Nomansland OÜ in Tallinn was the natural continuation of this cross-border vision. On a personal level, immersing oneself in this Eastern European reality was a deliberate choice to shift perspectives, step outside familiar comfort zones, and grow.

As a native of Lorraine, my roots are deeply tied to France, its vibrant culture, and the extraordinary richness of the French language in all its nuances. We cherish this heritage profoundly. Yet, true love for one's culture does not mean retreat or dogmatic pride. We celebrate French intellect and linguistic precision while rejecting any pride that becomes peremptory or exclusionary. Remaining open to the world and deeply European, we promote tolerance, intellectual humility, and total respect for all cultures—working together toward achievements far greater than any single nation could accomplish alone.
